Curriculum:

Grade 8 Social Studies focuses on American History from Reconstruction after the Civil War to the Present day. Students are required to take a state exam in June.

 

Our exam in June is broken up into 2 days, each day has 1 booklet to complete. Day 1 is the multiple choice section which is 45 multiple choice questions along with 5 'constructed response' questions based on analyzing documents such as political cartoons or short speeches.

The Second day, booklet 2, is made of a Document Based Question (DBQ) where students will first analyze documents with short constructed responses and then write an essay.
